Consultation

Drawing on our experience of working on a daily basis with asylum seekers, migrants and BAMER individuals and community/voluntary organisations, we firmly believes that BAMER community and voluntary organisations can no longer be passive recipients of change. It is up to us to make the issues affecting asylum seekers, migrants, refugees and BAME communities clear to policy and decision makers.

We are eager to contribute to all policy and consultation exercise. We view contribution to policy-making and statutory consultations as an essential part of the realignment of services to better meet the needs of those newly arrived and affected by discrimination.

In 2009 we have already contributed to the following:

  • EHRC’s (Equality and Human Rights Commission) Grants Programme
  • London borough of Redbridge - Children’s Services Equality Strategy
  • Barking and Dagenham and the Legal Services Commission’s CLAC Equality Impact Assessment
  • UK Border Agency’s Oversight of the Immigration Advice Sector Consultation
