ConsultationDrawing on our experience of working on a daily basis with asylum seekers, migrants and BAMER individuals and community/voluntary organisations, we firmly believes that BAMER community and voluntary organisations can no longer be passive recipients of change. It is up to us to make the issues affecting asylum seekers, migrants, refugees and BAME communities clear to policy and decision makers. We are eager to contribute to all policy and consultation exercise. We view contribution to policy-making and statutory consultations as an essential part of the realignment of services to better meet the needs of those newly arrived and affected by discrimination. K’s story is that of an appetite for life. Aged 19, he is waiting for his status to be cleared and his passport so that he can get on with his studies, get a job and become autonomous. Within the last 3 years, K learned a new language, passed Adult Numeracy, Entry 1 with a laudable score of 97% and the Assessment And Qualifications Alliance entry 2 in ICT. Today he nurtures plans of becoming a plumber. | |
